What Families Say
Our son, Henry, began working with Heera when he was three years old. Before finding Heera we had been told by a large pediatric therapy group that "because speech will never be his most efficient form of communication" they were not going to focus on sound production or speech. We were devastated. Luckily, we found Heera, who worked tirelessly to help Henry communicate in all ways, including verbal speech. Through Heera's dedication and ability to engage Henry, we have seen remarkable growth in all areas of communication, especially speech. Heera never gives up, even when Henry's ability to attend is limited, or when he is so frustrated that he refuses tasks. She continues to find interesting ways to engage Henry to get the most out of each session. She holds him to the high standards she knows he is capable of achieving. Heera truly has a gift and we are so thankful for her commitment and dedication not only to helping our son, but all the children that she is helping to achieve their true potential.
- Brittany
Chandani and Burns has been working with our son since elementary school for his complex speech language issues. I would not go anywhere else. We have seen tremendous strides thanks to their help. His social pragmatics has improved significantly and he now also receives help with executive functioning for middle school. Heera is an EXPERT speech therapist and is easily one of the best practitioners I have ever worked with. She deftly builds rapport with a child. She registers what is important to them and tailors the work to the child's interests, so that they engage in their sessions. She is able to explain goals to her clients (and their parents) and gives concrete avenues to work towards them. She is warm, dedicated and deeply thoughtful. She never seems to run out of ideas, and that gives parents inspiration and hope on difficult days. She provides in depth evaluations that identify areas of challenge (as well as strength) which can serve as templates for school assistance. She has a wealth of knowledge in child development and has a lot of experience working in the school systems. She is an important advocate to have in any academic meeting. Heera makes time to collaborate with other therapists and professionals, and they have all echoed my own sentiments about how perceptive, smart and special she is. Families will see real positive change when they work with her. She is amazing.
— Aimee
Heera has been a blessing not only for my son but for our whole family. Her knowledge and ability to provide speech therapy is a step above. She makes everything so clear and easy to understand. Heera is a great collaborator with my son's treatment team. She is always going one step forward on how to make my son progress farther and faster. She has helped me prepare for school and IEP meetings and it always amazes me the positive impact her recommendations have. She is not just my son's therapist she is one of his best advocates. Heera is always there to celebrate the little and big victories and also to work with us to make plan adjustments. In this journey where we as parents could feel alone at times, she has always been there for us.
- Julieta
Heera is amazing! We adore her! She has been working with our son for over a year. He has shown great improvement not only in his speech but in his ability to advocate for himself through his words. He has gained a confidence since working with Heera that he did not previously have with the many other speech and language therapists that he had worked with. Our son would dread any writing assignment, however, since working with Heera he has learned to "Brainstorm, draft, revise, edit and publish" his stories which he loves to now do! Heera is truly a gift, she not only is highly qualified in her field, she possesses an ability to build a trusting bond between herself and her students, and because of that trust, she was able to help our son build a confidence in himself which has helped him participate in school and social activities without anxiety about his speech. He is becoming a great communicator!
- Dona
Heera is a highly skilled and dedicated speech and language pathologist. We have collaborated on a number of students over the years and I'm always impressed with how thorough and on target her evaluations and treatment plans are. I notice positive outcomes and measurable improvement in her clients. I like how holistically she approaches each child and looks beyond the areas of speech and language to achieve results and encourage growth. I highly recommend Heera and her staff for your speech and language needs.
- Rivka Varnai, Reading Specialist
Ms. Chandani approaches the work of supporting children's speech and social needs with a listening ear, an eye on strengths, and a finger on the pulse of where a child begins and who they will become. Collaboration with family, school staff and other related services is paramount for her, allowing the skills she builds with her clients to dovetail within those of the whole team and child.
- Jena Doolas, School Social Worker
Heera has consistently given my daughter's needs thoughtful consideration and has tailored her approach to meet those changing needs. Heera has a gentle yet professional way of handling children who are learning to express themselves. The results we have seen in our daughter have been remarkable and we are thankful for her guidance and expertise.
